Project looks at business in the north
A partnership between northern communities and U of S researchers could improve business prospects across the north

The project is a research collaboration between the International Centre for Northern Governance and Development and the Edwards School of Business at the U of S. Launched in June 2014, the project is now in its second phase.
Continuing the work started in the spring of 2015, the research team will be working closely and collaboratively with 10 Northern Saskatchewan communities to explore how entrepreneurship in Northern Saskatchewan contributes to social and economic capacity building in relation to local concepts of ‘the good life,’ well-being and prosperity. This community-based participatory research project aims to understand the evolving states of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Northern Saskatchewan and compare it with Northern Scandinavia.
A series of student and community focused workshops are planned for this fall to learn more about what entrepreneurship means in the context of Northern Saskatchewan communities and their current and future aspirations for development. The main goal of the project is to produce meaningful results that will enhance and benefit these communities in important and helpful ways.
A new website, Facebook page, Twitter account, and YouTube Channel have been launched in support of the Building Northern Capacity through Aboriginal Entrepreneurship (BNCE) research project at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S).
